Two Storey Cubic Design
Callala Beach
The design for this Callala Beach residence proved to be a challenge due to the already small site being made even smaller by the ‘no building' restriction occupying approx. 60% of the site. As a result the building was going to require a small footprint to suit the available building area on the site.
The clients brief was for a contemporary ‘cubic’ or ‘boxed facade’ home. The end result was a design with all Living areas on the ground floor and all bedroom areas on the first floor.
The ground floor also contains the laundry and a guest powder room, along with a double garage. The first floor has 4 x bedrooms, 2 x bathrooms plus a study.
Externally, the focal point of the building is the large fixed glazed window framed in a timber boxed façade. The timber cladding which will weather over time forms a nice contrast to the remainder of the buildings dark walls.
Internally, the burnished concrete floor creates a practical floor to live on and looks fantastic with the open tread timber staircase and balustrade.
A ‘contemporary ‘cubic’ or ‘boxed facade’ home was what our clients where after in this design.
